About Us, Our mission,
and Our Core Values

What We Do

Our events serve as an opportunity for 2SLGBTQ+ folks to connect, celebrate, and be seen. Our events serve as an opportunity for Oklahoma’s 2SLGBTQ+ community to connect and be seen in a safe and explicitly affirming environment. We understand the importance of visibility for our community. Our events also serve as a time to connect resources with individuals who may need assistance. We work closely with our community partners to provide valuable resources such as access to transitional housing, STI testing, youth services, and more. We continue to build on the vision of an annual PrideFest with something for everyone, in our city’s front yard — Scissortail Park. PrideFest is a monumental event to have in Downtown OKC, as it signifies a new generation of activism and visibility in Oklahoma. In addition to PrideFest, the OK Pride Alliance hosts and partners with other organizations within the community to our efforts in promoting 2SLGBTQ+ equality and diversity. From Pride on the Plaza and a collaboration with the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate highlighting 2SLGBTQ+ artists to our partnership with deadCenter film — we know public art, music, and film are at the center of queer self-expression, telling our story and cultivating connection. Youth Pride Nights have increased from one per year during Pride Month to four annual Pride Nights at Factory Obscura. These Youth Nights serve as a hub for young people to gather in a safe space, unite with their friends, and make new ones. We’re constantly working to add more programming and events!

Empowering Oklahoma’s 2SLGBTQIA+ Community

Our Mission

The Oklahoma Pride Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focusing on the 2SLGBTQIA+ population and is committed to dismantling oppression through community empowerment, advocacy, and celebration. We center those most impacted by injustice to create a radically inclusive society that safeguards and uplifts 2SLGBTQIA+ lives.

Our Vision

We envision a world where all 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals are liberated from oppression and can live with dignity, safety, and joy. We strive to create a society that celebrates diversity, embraces radical inclusivity, and upholds the principles of justice and equity for all.

Our Core Values

  • Ending oppression, both locally and globally.

We firmly believe in adopting an intersectional feminist approach that centers and prioritizes those individuals most adversely affected by oppression. We believe in dismantling the intricate and interconnected injustices faced by Queer, Trans, Black, Brown, Indigenous, People of Color, including but not limited to those who are disabled, women and femme, immigrant, incarcerated (both currently and formerly), and those living in rural areas. We stand by the principle that "Nobody's free until everybody's free," recognizing that liberation is a collective endeavor.

  • Existing as an organization committed to abolitionist and anti-racist principles.

Our actions are geared towards dismantling systems and institutions that perpetuate colonialist and imperialist ideologies. These ideologies contribute to a wide range of injustices, including homomisia, transmisia, xenomisia, islamomisia, racism, antisemitism, misogyny, ableism, classism, climate injustice, police brutality, and other systemic and societal harms that hinder the creation of a truly just community. Furthermore, we acknowledge that our work takes place on stolen land. As such, we center our Two-Spirit and Indigenous community members in our efforts to build new systems of care and sustainability.

  • Striving to create visibility and celebration of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals.

This commitment is evident in the numerous community events we organize throughout the year. These events create vital opportunities for connection and celebration for all ages and highlight individuals, spaces, organizations, and other groups that champion and support our work. Resistance through queer joy is a fundamental component of all our endeavors.

  • Safeguarding access to affirming resources and spaces.

We are dedicated to upholding the truth that all people, especially 2SLGBTQIA+ people, have the right to feel safe and protected in all spaces of the community, in Oklahoma and beyond. We work closely with our community partners to provide valuable resources such as access to transitional housing, STI testing, youth services, and more. Recognizing the existing gaps in our current systems, we actively promote and engage with community organizing and mutual aid initiatives.

  • Remaining resolute in our role as bold, courageous and vulnerable community leaders.

Our work includes building pathways for a more inclusive and just future for all, educating and encouraging others to take action in protecting marginalized people, be proud of their unique identities, and to challenge anything other than radical acceptance. We aim to foster community relationships that educate and eliminate ignorance. We are committed to considering all perspectives with compassion and respect, and demand that marginalized voices receive equitable treatment, especially when our privilege affords us any advantages.
